Dr. Ross Stewart grew up in Bearsden, Glasgow, where his active lifestyle and involvement with the 1st Bearsden Boys' Brigade played a significant role in shaping his path to medicine. He studied at the University of Dundee (MBChB, 2007) and the University of Glasgow (BSc Med Sci Hons, 2005), followed by training in both paediatric and adult surgery. However, his passion for building meaningful patient relationships led him to transition into General Practice, completing his GP training in the Scottish Borders.
After five years as a GP Partner at Biggar Medical Practice, Dr. Ross Stewart took on the role of clinical director for NHS Borders Out of Hours Care. While he found the position rewarding, the increasing workload and challenges brought by the pandemic motivated him to pursue a more patient-centered approach. In 2022, he founded The Cademuir Clinic, the first Independent GP practice in Peebles, offering patients dedicated time and personalized care. Alongside his work at the clinic, he continues to serve as a GP at Moffat Medical Practice, The State Hospital Carstairs, and provides medical care for Peebles Rugby Club.
In his personal life, Dr. Ross Stewart has completed an Ironman, summited Mont Blanc, served as a Medical Officer in the Army, and coaches youth basketball. His wife, Elizabeth, who manages the clinic and their family of five, has been his unwavering support throughout his journey. Dr. Ross Stewart looks forward to welcoming new patients to The Cademuir Clinic.
The Clinic may request a late cancellation fee (if less than 24 hours notice) of £75.
Cancellation within 4 hours or failure to attend will incur full charge of booked time.

6/12/2024Coming from a sporting background, I couldn’t recommend Dr Stewart enough. After falling ill for a number of weeks prior to an important international race and trying multiple doctors for help, which where not successful. Dr Stewart was able to help me make a strong recovery in a very short period of time, and I could then take part in the race. Which before I didn’t think was going to be possible. Dr Stewart picked up on some key things regarding my health problem that hadn’t been noticed by other doctors, showing his clear care towards every patient. It was obvious that his priority was to make sure his patients would make the best recovery possible. He is someone who is very easy to be around, and had a nice relaxed, professional environment which i believe is key. Thankyou Ross for all your help, it’s so much appreciated from me and my family.

5/16/2024As a family we can’t recommend Dr Stewart enough, my son has visited countless doctors since the age of 12 both through the NHS and private and not one of them came close to diagnosing him. After 2 thorough visits and tests with Dr Stewart we were hopeful he would be able to help - to which he did. We went back down for a consultation and he talked us through what was causing the issues and now my son 19 is able to recognise when he needs medicine and what to take to prevent becoming unwell. We are very thankful to Dr Stewart , he is a very considerate and compassionate Doctor I have nothing but kind words to say about him and would recommend his services to everyone. Thank you again Dr Stewart my son can live his life fully again and it is Fantastic to see .

5/8/2024The Cademuir Clinic is outstanding, Dr Stewarts approach is exactly as he has been described, “an old fashioned GP” traditional values with the benefits of modern medicine. The Clinic is extremely comfortable and inviting, the service is both personal and professional, I can truly recommend Dr Stewart, and I would not hesitate to come under his care in the future.

9/18/2023Went to see Dr Ross Stewart today, who’s new clinic is top class. A lovely well appointed waiting and surgery area. Ross took the time to listen and his examination and advice was as you would expect first rate. In a world where it is difficult to get to see a doctor, Ross has a service that is first rate all the way. Best of luck Ross and I would thoroughly recommend him. AF
