Biography
With over 20 years of private medical practice behind her, Carole is keen to continue to deliver easily accessed personalised healthcare in the recently refurbished clinic premises at 24 Buckingham Terrace beside the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow’s West End.
Having qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 1988, she completed her General Practice training there at Stockbridge Health Centre. She then gained experience working in Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Barcelona and as the doctor on P & O’s Arcadia cruise ship. Working in General Practice in Edinburgh was then followed by a move to Glasgow to work as a private GP.
GP Matters offers appointments for a wide range of medical problems and treatments. Dr McAlister carries out GP consultations, blood tests, allergy management, employment medicals including for the offshore industry and referrals for investigations or to see Specialists at private hospitals. She also has been treating patients with botulinum toxin for the last 16 years for both cosmetic and clinical conditions such as sweating, migraine and teeth grinding.

The clinic was exceptionally presented and the staff were very professional and considerate.The location is well placed near the Hillhead Subway station and there are plenty of nice cafés and restaurants nearby. I will most definitely be returning in the future.

9/5/2025Don’t go anywhere else, the entire team at GP matters are outstanding! Dr McAlister, and the Practise Nurses who looked after me, Carole and Caroline were all wonderful. Putting me at complete ease through all tests required with warmth and real care. Daniel, who coordinate all requirements from my initial inquiry, through all completed medical reports was supremely effective by every measure. Like the rest of the GP Matters Glasgow team, was also outstandingly helpful, welcoming and an assured professional. That provided essential guidance through the full process. If you need an independent medical assessment for employment or oversea visa’s etc. don’t go anywhere else! You are in great hands with GP matters Glasgow.

I instantly felt very comfortable, welcome and at ease. From reception staff to the nurse, Doctors and helpful/personal emails after my visit. Everything was fab!
