Biography
With over 20 years of private medical practice behind her, Carole is keen to continue to deliver easily accessed personalised healthcare in the recently refurbished clinic premises at 24 Buckingham Terrace beside the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow’s West End.
Having qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 1988, she completed her General Practice training there at Stockbridge Health Centre. She then gained experience working in Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Barcelona and as the doctor on P & O’s Arcadia cruise ship. Working in General Practice in Edinburgh was then followed by a move to Glasgow to work as a private GP.
GP Matters offers appointments for a wide range of medical problems and treatments. Dr McAlister carries out GP consultations, blood tests, allergy management, employment medicals including for the offshore industry and referrals for investigations or to see Specialists at private hospitals. She also has been treating patients with botulinum toxin for the last 16 years for both cosmetic and clinical conditions such as sweating, migraine and teeth grinding.

I instantly felt very comfortable, welcome and at ease. From reception staff to the nurse, Doctors and helpful/personal emails after my visit. Everything was fab! The location is fantastic, and the facilities are spotless, modern, and bright, making for a comfortable experience. Dr. McAlister is exceptional - she takes the time to listen, asks thoughtful questions, and ensures you feel fully informed throughout. 2/28/2025Need some test for a work visa. The nurse Carole who did the test was fantastic, not a massive fan of needles and put me instantly to easy. Was so quick and easy. Fantastic service. The doctor a different Carole got my results to me swiftly. Would definitely use again if needed in the future.

1/29/2025Botox for migraines. Excellent service from start to finish. Dr McAlister completes a thorough history and plans treatments to your needs. Will prescribe what an individual requires, and wont over prescribe. Migraines are much better thanks to this treatment. I would highly recommend this service.

1/16/2025The nurse was brilliant and helped with teaching some great breathing techniques to help with anxiety and blood pressure. All the staff there were helpful, warm and friendly and it was the first time I didn’t feel like just a number. Will definitely use again and would highly recommend them for any medical requirements.
